Coltène Undergraduate Award

This award is made to a student undertaking undergraduate studies in dentistry who have produced a case report involving Prosthodontic treatment. The scope of the award is such that cases involving either fixed or removable prosthodontic treatment are considered. The award includes the following:

  • An award to the value of £500 to the recipient
  • A materials/consumables bursary of £500 for the Prosthodontic department or unit of the Dental Hospital
  • A certificate presented by Coltène Whaledent
  • Attendance at the conference in the following year, as a guest of BSSPD, the successful candidate will be required to present their work as a poster demonstration or table display depending on the preference of the recipient.

Regulations

1. The British Society of Prosthodontics, in association with Coltène/Whaledent UK, offers an annual award to students undertaking undergraduate studies in dentistry who have managed a patient requiring Prosthodontic treatment.
2. The Award consists of a monetary award of £500 together with a certificate and a separate materials/consumables bursary worth £500 awarded to the dental school of the successful applicant.
3. The successful applicant will be asked to present a poster demonstration at the Annual Conference as a guest of the society the year following their submission for which additional financial support will be available from BSSPD.
4. A candidate must not possess a dental qualification and joint applications are not acceptable.
5. The application must be supported by the Head of the Dental School (or Nominee) of the applicant's school.
6. Assessment of the award will be made on the recommendation of the Awards Administrator following assessment by a panel constituted for this purpose.
7. The Society may withhold the award if it is considered that entries are not of sufficient merit. The decision on the Award is final and appeals are not allowed.
8. Applicants for this award are required to submit a summary of a case that has required fixed or removable prosthodontic treatment and the applicant must have been directly involved in the prosthodontic care of the case presented. The application should include sufficient information relating to the clinical care of the case together with appropriate Figures and Legends that help to illustrate how the case was managed, together with the candidates reflection on the outcome of the prosthodontic treatment. The submission must be made in electronic poster format.
